I guess I haven’t been in the the high, and higher end homes in awhile. Actually it’s been about fours years but I’m not surprised at how one tries to outdo another..or build the biggest house on the block, let alone city or region.
I don’t even know how to describe some of the work going on. I’m fairly well versed on homes in the $1-3 mill range, but this one? Cut coral rock on the exterior and I heard the tab on that was 3M. Detail and more detail on the interior that looks like a throwback to the 30’s. Also 6″ X 12″ solid cypress beams for decor etc, etc in what appears to be called “the pub” area. No drywall in this place. Baseboard 1″ in thickness rising to some heights of 12″ with a cap.
I’m told “the museum” is 35,000 SF under air here on the SW Coast of Florida(Naples/beach front)) in a non gated area named Port Royal. Perhaps some are familiar with the name. I can’t fathom the AC bill while the place is under construction. I’m not familiar with the AC game either, but in my rounds I counted 10 temps on the exterior and by the size of ’em each could cool 2,000 SF easily?
I’ll be in and out of there the next 2-3 months doing different areas in hardwood when the areas are ready. I can’t believe the numbers I’ve heard in what this place will tally out at after changes and so forth. The rough figures I heard were equilivant to building an early 70’s era “cookie-cutter” baseball stadium. 1970 dollars in Pittsburgh, Philly, and Cincy.
Geez, I hate those kind of jobs. Really.
