I’ve seen many homes advertised with mirroed fireplace surrounds. My mother wants to do something like this on an existing fireplace from which we have stripped tiles due to damage. We have applied a skim coat of mortar to smooth and flatten the surface over the brickwork that makes up the chimney. There is an iron frame about 1″ wide around the front of the firebox. This is a working fireplace, but one that is not used much.
What are the important considerations about something like this? How are those mirrors I’ve seen on interior decorator pictures actually installed? Which type of mirrors (glass) would be best?
Thanks for any thoughts. Rufus
