if anyone is still here, its time to start thinking about our lunch gathering.
I'm thinking about some Saturday in mid- Feb., probably at the pub in Middlesex, NJ where we've had it the last couple of years.
Why do you want to travel? I was looking forward to staying close to home. You just can't let it go. Like my MIL and Brooklyn.
I sent you an email about the EPA lead class. Give me a shout.
Oh, come on. There's got to be more than 2 guys reading this.
Anyone out there?
Hmmm, that's near my in-laws' home (Middlesex).
you thinking of sending your mil out with theses guys??
I am just saying this- I can't imagine that if you show up, with a bunch of guys pretty darned disgruntled about the way the forum has changed, in a place that serves beer, that you aren't going to feel like you stepped into the Spanish Inquisition.
I think you would get a lot of questions and opinions, if not curses and insults. I, personally, might ask, but won't insult you.
Unless, of course, you drink too much and talk out your [JOBSITE WORD] which, I can state from vast experience, tends to happen.
But I would think you would be more than welcome.
Eh, I did all the "talking out of my ***" when I was in college. LOL
I simply like the combination of beer, wood, and tools - although I must stipulate that I meant "talking" about these things as opposed to actually framing dormers while sucking down PBR's. ha ha ha
If you guys get a little crowd together - I'm going to try and attend. I don't mind answering questions about the forum. Heck, I expect them!
PS: Perhaps I'll come in with a fake mustache and glasses to evaluate the situation before sitting down with anyone. LOL
have you ever been to Tim Kerwin's Tavern, on Bound Brook Ave. (Rt. 28) in Middlesex? That's where we'll be having the get-together. You're more than welcome to come and talk and have a few beers.
You might want to consider bringing a whip and chair, tho
Dont' scare Ed off just yet. Wait until we have him in our clutches before you attack
I can probably swing it. I just need to figure out dates. Last weekend of February I'll be away, skiing in Colorado. Earlier in the month there is one weekend I'll be target shooting with an old buddy. Other than that . . . .
I have to figure out what weekend is good. With your info, I can work out something where you won't have any excuses .
I think the Woodworking Show is the third weekend? I just got their flyer, but don't remember the date. We'll probably plan for the weekend before that.
Ed (and anyone else interested)-
I'm going to be brave, and say that we'll have our lunch on Sat., Feb. 13. Hopefully, everyone is like me, and doesn't have enough of a social life so that there aren't any conflicts.
See you there.
I just figured out my schedule for February. I am available on February 6th. Would that be possible - as opposed to the following weekend?
I'm asking the guys if the 6th works for them. I don't have a life, so either weekend is good for me .
FWIW, there's a lot more traffic and interest over at BT Classic in this, so maybe we can get a decent turn-out.
it looks like Feb. 6th is a go. That should give you enough time to requisition a flack jacket from TPTB.
I'll let you know what time, but we've usually started around 12:30 or 1, and stayed a couple of hours.
It'll be nice to talk to you in person.
Flak jacket? Heck, I've still got a kevlar vest and full-blown gas mask from my days in journalism. Yer talking to someone who has been hit by many-a-rubber bullet. LOL
So what's the latest on this lunch event? How many folks are going? I'm making plans and need details. Lemme know, eh?!
Let's see- off the top of my head, there will be me, DonCanDo, Jer, maybe Ken. Rich Refalo said he may stop by, but he sometimes works Saturdays.DocKelly is also interested in showing up, but I haven't gotten a definite from him yet.
Tashler aka Glenn has to do something with his kid. There may be a few more, but I can't remember who.
This is the 4th year, and we've never had everyone show up who said they would. But that's OK. This is pretty informal.
It'll be at Tim Kerwin's Tavern on Bound Brook Rd. (Rt. 28)in Middlesex, NJ. Figure on meeting about 12:30. They have pretty good food there. I really like their burgers.
Looking forward to meeting you
So it sounds like about half-a-dozen folks by my estimate.
Great. See you on the sixth.
less than one week to go. Anyone else interested in coming to the lunch? We allow folks from all political parties, as well those from other states.
it looks like we've got another 2 guys. Mike Smith and one of his guys are most likely going to be there. He wants to stop at Dino's EZ Smart factory in Edison, NJ.
So it look like nine of us (including me).
Which place, though? Edison or Middlesex?
It'll be at Tim Kerwin's Tavern, on Bound Brook Rd. (NJ Rt. 28)in Middlesex, at 12:30
Ed's keeping count.
Looks like hats for the boys.
nab me one when he's not looking.
A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.
Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.
You can have mine. I don't wear hats.
I'm hoping against hope that Taunton, trying to build good will, picks up the tab LOL
Personally I was hoping you all would go up there for lunch and fix some of this stuff b/4 dinner.
I wear hats. Grab me one.
Hey, who said I was bringing hats? LOL
Calvin started the rumor. Blame him.
I don't know Ed. You seemed interested in a head count. Figgered it was for hats.
Hell, if it's for nail guns or compressors......no problemo.
Hey Shep, get me a nail gun or compressor.
It looks like you're the smart one this weekend. You're heading north, away from the snow we're supposed to get.
You got your long johns packed?
