RezFest golf- decision time

Shep's picture

OK, guys and gals

I believe the current player list for fest golf ( in no particular order) is me, Cal & Joyce, Mike Smith, FatRoman, DustinF, and Hubcap. One more would be great.

I've Googled courses near Saratoga Springs and have come up with a few choices

Saratoga Lake- about 10 mile from downtown. $46.00 w/cart; 5800 yard par 72

Saratoga Spa- south of town. $58.00 w/cart; 6,000 yard par 72

there's also Saratoga National, but that $130 to play. I think we'll skip that one.

Either of the other 2 is OK with me.

Either ok by me. (post #190621, reply #1 of 18)

Did you do the picture look at both?  Which one has the nicest pictures?

The nicest looking beer girl.................I know the spa says no alcohol...............

The least amount of traps...............

The nicest looking water.............

Thanks for doing this.

Please, if you post this over at BTC, include some Prize Table gathering for the Fest.    Thanks

Boy, you have a lot of conditions for picking a course LOL

Well, (post #190621, reply #3 of 18)

Anything to keep it on an even keel with the good guys.

Dustin emailed me about sat. morning-9 holes.  He's in for that.  Joyce is wavering.

Golf (post #190621, reply #4 of 18)

I don't know jack about golf, it always seems stupid to me, but I know BT folks, and they are going to play Spa Park, and have a good time. Foget about Saratoga National, ain't gonna happen.

Saratoga Lake was the other (post #190621, reply #5 of 18)

Saratoga Lake was the other reasonably priced course that came up when I was Googling. The pictures on the site look nice.

National is way too expensive, even for us rich contractors <G>

This from a 2008 review. (post #190621, reply #6 of 18)

great course right off the lake, good vlue for the price, refreshment girl was very nice and always around when you needed her.

That Saratoga Lake course does sound intrigue-ing.

golf (post #190621, reply #7 of 18)

I think you want Spa Park for golf. It's the most convenient and nicest course under $100.  I had no idea it was $58 a round.

There's a surcharge for (post #190621, reply #8 of 18)

There's a surcharge for out-of-staters.

It's in the low $40 for state residents. But I don't think there's any NY BTer  going to play.

Hey, if you don't play, what are ya doing suggesting courses. <G>

I'm looking forward to seeing you guys in a couple of weeks.

Golf (post #190621, reply #9 of 18)

I walk through there a lot and listen to balls bouncing off of pine trees. Hey, what if I made a revervation and paid it and you guys pay me?  Should I look into that?

Did you look at this one?  It's also very close my place.  http://www.brookhavengolfclub.com/golf-c...

You have to be careful around here. Some farmers have planted grass and dug a few ponds and called it a golf course.

No need Mike (post #190621, reply #10 of 18)

unless golf is different in Saratoga.  We call get a t-time-pay when we show up.  We probably couldn't muddle our way through trying to be locals to get the better rate.  You know, dialect and all.

I looked at a hole by hole of the Lake course.  Interesting.  Straight shooters need apply.

Well, except for the big doglegs.

OK, we're good to go. I (post #190621, reply #11 of 18)

OK, we're good to go. I booked one foursome at Saratoga Lakes for Friday, 8:30 tee time. According to Google directions, the course is 17 minutes for the hotel.

I also booked  2 threesomes on Saturday at Saratoga Spa Champion, at 6:51 and 7:00. Spa is 7 minutes form the hotel.

Whew. The pressures off now.

I played today and shot an 88. Remind me to tell you about the course we played.

Oh boy, shot an 88.............you sir are giving strokes. (post #190621, reply #12 of 18)

Joyce and I went out last nite for 9, she mumbled something about not taking any clubs to the Fest.  And since we probably will have only 4 for Saturday, she would make 5.  She's graciously bowing out, not wanting to play on Friday she says.

edit:  I might be able to talk her into Sat morn if, and only if we need her to make up another group.  So if you got 6, she'd play to make a 4 and a 3...........................

So, who do we really got?  You, Smitty and I for sure.  Dustin on Sat.  Any news from Doc Kelly or even Fatty for that matter?

Any other victims for you to prey on?

I'm not sure what that guy (post #190621, reply #15 of 18)

I'm not sure what that guy talking about the 2010 PGA wants. If he thinks I'm playing a course set up for the pros, he's nuts.

I like golf, but I'm not a masochist..

Last night's league play wasn't too good. I didn't shoot at all well. Pouring and finishing 1-1/2 yards of concrete yesterday afternoon might have had something to do with it LOL.

I gotta plan my work better, so that it doesn't mess with my golf.

I'm not sure what that (post #190621, reply #16 of 18)

He wanted you to click the link.

The link went to a search redirector.

The guy who posted, gets points which eventually add up to money, for every click that was made.

IOW: it was spam.

OK, thanks. I almost never click on a link that someone includes. Its not that I'm all that worried about viruses. Its more that I can't be bothered if someone doesn't give some kind of hint regarding what the link is about.

Some kind of hint in some semblance of the Kings English........ (post #190621, reply #18 of 18)
