Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good broker for a workers' comp policy in NY?
I'm planning to get my Home Improvement Contractor license and it requires my having a comp policy. I'm primarily doing light construction and cabinetry, but to work in most of the high rises you have to have coverage just to get in the building.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Workers Comp Policy
wrkrwood...you might try workerscompensationshop.com. They are based out of MO but have good Carriers in NY; additionally, they do "pay as you go" Workers Comp policies in NY and seem to be very nice to deal with. Let me know if you need additional info William at Workers Compensation Programs in Nashville, TN

Good luck! Your going to probably get stuck with New York State Insurance Fund which ironically has nothing to do with the state. I had to get it as a general contractor in Westchester County. I always used a labor agency and subcontractors but now I had to get it regardless. I use the Robert C. Mangi agency on Long Island. They handle all my insurance needs and have always been very helpful. I think the website is www.contractorsinsurance.org. Good luck and let me know if you need more info
