Minimum charge  (post #184151)

I was curious if you all had a minimum charge for doing small jobs that might only take an hour or two to complete.

Yes.

A minimum charge for jobs less than an hour, which includes an hour's labor rate and some travel time.

I almost always quote jobs on a fixed bid basis, and I don't give free estimates. Used to, and spent a lot of time having people try to get free advice out of me.

Yes, tho subject to waiver should I choose. Usually I charge a minimum of 4 hours for any project less than a half days work.

Just remember the last time you took your truck to a mechanic, how were you billed.

Been a while since I was in business for myself.

Mostly subcontract stuff.

ALWAYS a half day minimum.

I liked to be honest about it. I would expalain the reasoning and tell the customer that they were paying for half a day so they might as well either wait lump a few small things together and use a half a day.
