Pricing kitchen cabinet refinishing? (post #202291)

I have a customer that wants an estimate on an entire kitchen cabinet refinish .... I have no idea where to even begin!

Is there some kind of industry formula that one could apply? There are some large sides, face frames, doors, drawer fronts and an island that all need to be sanded, re-stained, and clear coated.

Generally cabinets are refaced rather than refinished.

Keep in mind that you can never guess, from one such job to the next, how much grease will figure into the situation.  Some folks never fry anything, others deep-fry everything.  They may have wiped the cabinets clean, but the grease will still give you problems.  So you need to assume the worst and thoroughly wash everything at the start.

that after more than a year, the OP could give you an exact cost if he did the job.

 

Here's question for you.

How long would it take you to refinish one side of one avg cab door?  Say 18"x30".
