I’m starting to put some on some siding on two gable ends. I have 9 foot walls all the way around. So on the other two walls I just put up 9 foot osb. No problem so far. When I do my gable ends. I start to sheath on the ground before I put my gable trusses up. From the top plate to the ridge is 6 feet. Is there a method to make the bottom of the sheathing blend in. What I’m asking is with a 15 foot ridge and 12 foot sheet of osb I will have a 3 foot section on the bootm. Or should I reverse it and put the 3 footer at the ridge. What would look better. Thanks Hat

hat.. osb ?
that's sheathing.. so what do you care how it looks....or are you talking about something like Texture 1-11?
if it's the second.. keep your bottoms even and put the small piece at the top on the gables..don't forget your z-flash

What do you mean by z flashing. And for what? I'm putting on a tile roof. Hat
Take a break Mike, I'll try this time. The Z flash, Hat is for the joint between the 9 foot sheet and the little piece you are going to put on top to reach the peak of the gable end. It is shaped like a Z, so that it catches the water running into the joint and keeps it outside where it belongs. Behind the upper piece, across the end grain and then overlapping the lower piece. The type of roofing has no bearing that I can imagine!

I'm confused too. I just read another Hat post where he was talking about siding under his stucco. Now, he just mentioned his roofing material and I'm really confused.
Hat, work on your terminology, it is essential to ensure an informed reply.

Ok I will work on it. I meant sheathing. OSb. That's why I ask about the z flashing. Thanks Hat
