Best thinset over Redgard for bath surround
Looking for a rec for the best thinset to use in over Redgard waterproofer on a bath surround install. Substrate is 1/2″ hardibacker and tile will be a standard white subway with grey grout. I assume that using some sort of modified thinset is the answer, but which brand? Also, can the same thinset be used for floor tile in the same bathroom? Floor tile will probably be one of the feaux-wood look larger format tiles (6″x24″) The bath is in a basement so substrate is 60+ year old concrete that’s clean (just scarified it) with one minor crack in it – less than 1/8″ wide with no vertical displacement, nor has it expanded or changed in the 5 years we’ve owned the house. I’d love to have a rec of a specific brand or brands, eg versabond vs flexbond, etc. that are widely available.

good luck with
I had a great experience using Pro-Flex Platinum (from The Tile Shop) over Redgard ((2 coats) on a tub surround. over studs, I put 30# felt, then Durock, taped/mortared seams, then RedGard 2 coats, then the Pro-flex and subway tile. I used the Fine Homebuilding articles as a guide (but insisted on the waterproofing coat on the wet side of the Durock).
