Hi
I am going to clean and attempt to caulk the perimeter of my home in the area (gap) behind the weep screed and the 1″ eps foam that is over the building papaer and 2×4 studs of my house. This is only 4-6 inches above the grade level (decompose dgranite/rocks) I live in the Las Vegas area and I have noticed that because the home is not sheathed in plywood, there is more than enough room for scorpions to come in to the wall cavity. We have a scorpion problem and I have sealed all other entry points. Other than several days on my hands and knees caulking with my fingers, I cannot figure how to do it and see what I am doing. I would like to have a caulk gun that shoots upwards -or perhaps someone has a better way ??? I will not be using spray foam – it would not work in this case. Photos are of a remodel I did exposing some of the weep screed/eps/ and one coat stucco system.

I'd be tempted to use some sort of saw (set shallow to not nick the tin) to cut away the bottom 1/2" or so of stucco/foam, and the foam the gap created.
don't cut up a house that is already built
Yeah - well, thats not gonna happen.
try this from FHB archives - might help out..

maybe combined with a cordless caulking gun?
touche
I hear that Ryohbee will have a 22 volt soon ?
If There's a Gap...
... down there big enough for them nasty critters to get in, my first thought'd be a piece of clear vinyl tubing of proper ID stuck onto my caulking tube's spout, long enough for me to hold the caulking gun maybe horizontal while manipulating the open tube end along and up into the crack to place caulk. If you have a lot of wall to seal there are air-powered guns to ease the strain on your hands. I'd also use a small mirror to help with visibility down there close to the ground.
(Of course NOW I go back & read the previous post about drip-tube fittings....)
Yes - I just read his helpful link as well - combine that with the thoughts on cordless and the mirror - thats exactly what I am going to do. I am setting sticky trapes in the attic and replacing weatherstripping to - as I am coming closer to finding point of entry.
thank you
I didn't see the link you put in - thanks thats exactly what I was hoping for. I thought you were making a joke at first - my mistake and thanks again !
Backer rod?
Could you push backer rod in between the termite shield and the foam? You might even have to flex teh sheild down a little to get the (foam) foam in there and that might be good as it might hold it in there. You can buy backer rod in 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch 1/2 etc. diameters to fit your gaps.
Might work.
