Crown Mold Problem (post #193171)

I am putting up crown mold on a trey ceiling.  The internal corner angle is 135 degrees.  I asume that the miter saw should be set at a 22.5 deg angle but I can't get any combination of cuts or coping to work out.  I tried to cope the cut on one end but th profiles did not match up.  I am making the miter saw cut with the molding at th right spring angle and "upside down and backwards" like it was a normal 45 deg angle. Can anyone give me some suggestion on how to cut these angles.  Thanks

I think I'm having a bit of trouble understanding your situation, but

Take a look at this site-Joe Fusco-former poster here (deceased) that knew his stuff.  He's got some formulas and tables and explanatioin on his old site (still up) that might help you out.

Look at the finish carpentry section:   http://www.josephfusco.org/Article_main_page.html

Does 135° represent the angle (post #193171, reply #2 of 3)

Does 135° represent the angle between the wall/ceiling (the fact that you mention tray ceiling leads me to think so) OR does is represent the angle between the 2 walls (mentioning a "normal 45 deg angle" leads me to think that instead)?

135 deg is the angle between (post #193171, reply #3 of 3)

135 deg is the angle between the walls.  I found a method of cutting the crown "on the flat" and with a little tweeking, it worked fine.  Thanks for your response.  I'm sure there is a way to cut it "in position" and I may try to figure it out once this project is done.  Thanks
