This is a curiosity post about costs; a reality check if you will.
The plumber who installed my radiant floor heating system told me that his charge for finish plumbing is $200/fixture (i.e. $200 for a sink, $200 for a toilet, etc). I suppose the charges average out, that a bathroom with 1 sink and 1 toilet would be $400.
Obvoiusly, the cost of the fixtures would be extra.
Is this a reasonable charge for residential work in southern New England?

Wouldl that include a cast iron tub that he has to move to the second floor? If he says 'yes" then the $200.00 is probably fair. If he says "no" I'd look for another plumber.
How about that toilet with the compressed air cannister that flushes like a jet engine, or the 200 pound under mount farm sink with the faucets from England that like to eat the little seals, or the water fall faucets with hand sprayers in an Americast tub with no room to solder.
Depends on the jobsite and fixtures and location.

I would think that if it was Finnish plumbing he'd be installing saunas.
Dan,
I have installed one of those also. Found out the control cable sheath is made from soybean plastic. And mice like to eat it.
So now you have to run low voltage in conduit.

Finish Plumbing Re-visited
We seemed to have gotten off track here.
I'm looking for input aas to what would be a reasonalble cost/hourly rate would be.

$200 for one fixture is probably reasonable, if it includes installing trap and risers and setting the fixture. I'd expect something to be knocked off for more than one, though.
And lots of potential for regional variation.
The only way you are going to get any sort of accurate answer is to obtain multiple bids from local plumbers.
How much does he charge to hack through all the structural framework he can get his sawzall near?
