Help! Do I need to replace subfloor??
I’m currently replacing original tile from my 1980’s home with engineered hardwood. Removing the tile was a huge job. None of them came up in one piece and the adhesive often took up chunks of the subfloor along with it. Some are small divets, but there are a significant number of large divets from the wood just ripping up. The largest is 1/2″ wide by 6″ long and 1/4″ deep. I’ve used wood filler over the holes but the floor looks pretty torn up.
I’m using a 0.125″ underlayment with the wood floors. Is this a no brainer subfloor replacement or with some sanding effort it shouldn’t be too much of a problem??
Thanks so much for your help!

subfloor, not underlayment, right?
From that description I'd say if your original subfloor is 3/4" or better you are good to go without tearout. If you are reflooring up against any outer walls the subloor is probably under the walls anyway, think of all the fun in that..........
