I’m installing a 6′ sliding glass door and I have a question in regard to flashing. The siding on the house is vinyl and the trim around the existing door is 1×5.
After I remove the existing door and trim how do I go about flashing the opening without removing the vinyl siding? Do I just flash up to the vinyl and try to slip behind panels? Is that even possible with all the nails in the siding?
I was planning on using a self adhesive flashing. Is this a good choice for this type of installation?
And one final question…is it really necessary to remove the glass panels of the door before installing? I see all these videos saying so but I dont see the problem leaving them in unless you can’t handle the weight?????
