I am planning to build new kitchen cabinets. It’s a small kitche and will have only one row of cabinets. A free standing stove will be at the end of the row and in the corner of the room. How much room should I allow for the stove, the exact width of the stove or a little extra? If additional space is needed, how much? Thank you for your input.

stove in corner?
wall next to it?
bad idea especially if a gas range. Fire hazard.
Cookingwise? You should have a minimum 12" of counter to either side of the range for prep, cooking and soup ladeling.....
you know how you cook, what you need for comfort.
In our kitchen the space for the stove is about 1/2 inch wider than the actual stove -- a quarter inch on each side. But things are pretty straight and square -- if the walls aren't straight or the cabinets will be hard to set exactly right then you'd need more.
And what Calvin says -- a stove should never be up against a side wall.
I wouldnt give it more than a 1/4", 1/8" on either side is plenty of clearance.
Hey Steve, Check the range specs. It will have a cut out dimension. In general, a 30" range requires a 30" cut out width (space between cabs), a 36" range needs 36", etc., etc. The actual appliance is usually undersized just slightly. Adding extra width is not necessary and will look unprofessional. These standards I outlined are for "slide in ranges". "Drop ins" may have different width requirements.
