A few years ago I bought several mission style doors. 1-3/8″, two stiles, three rails. I finally have gotten around to the part of the house that gets the last door. The door I have is 2/6. The opening is for a 2/4. The door came predrilled for the lockset, otherwise I would just take an inch off each side.
My plan is to reduce the door width by first cutting along one of the stiles the length of the door where the stile meets the panel. I will then cutback the three rails and cut a new dado into the stile. I can cut the panels to match the dado in the stiles. Then I thought I cound use floating tenons to reconnect the stiles and rails.
I’d appreciate any thoughts.

Good luck!
hmmm...
Soundes possible if you don't mind investing the labor.
Be sure the face of the door stays flat while the glue dries if you use the blind spline/ floating tenon approach..
Remember that the panel SHOULD NOT be glued into the dado.
How tight is the RO?
Assuming it's not a bearing wall, or even if it is but carries a light load, you might be able to enlarge the RO by replacing the trimmer (or jack) studs with 1x4s. That buys 3/4 in. You can buy even more, again, depending on the loads and how much drywall work you're willing to undertake, by removing the trimmers and replacing them with header hangers.
