Hello,
I’m getting ready to reroof our house and would like to know if it’s necessary to remove the existing ice and water shield?
The original part of the house was built in 2001 and has granulated membrane on the eaves, I’ve determined this by tearing off shingles under the roof of the addition that was added in 2009 and it seems to still be in good shape. I tried to peal it off with zero luck.
So if it’s still in good shape can I reuse it or should I put new over the old, and would two layers of IWS be noticable?
Thanks

No, no need to remove it and you probably couldn't anyway.
