Roof vents for bathroom/dryer advice
Are there special roof vents for bathroom and dryer exhaust? Currently the exhaust pipe is just suspended under one of the rectangular roof vents. I am adding a bath and laundry to the second floor and am wondering what type of vents to use to vent them out through the roof. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. Bill

Yes, there are vent that shed rain and allow the air to vent through a sloped roof. Of course, they are best installed with the roof is going on, so the flashing, tar paper and shingles can be nicely lapped over each other. But if the shingles aren't too old, you can retrofit one it, any building supply should have them or could get them.
If composition shingles have gotten old and brittle, I'd wait until the next reroofing to install a roof vent. Because you'd likely break a lot of shingles when you bend them up to slip the vent and its flasing in underneth.
Thanks for the information. I am currently framing in the roof addition that attaches to the main roof, then I will be reshingling the entire roof.
