slap brush (crows foot) drywall texture
I just finished up taping 4 1/2 year addition on my house. It was kind of a big project 320 sq ft and all.
Now how do I go about putting on the texture. Will be doing walls and the ceiling to match the rest of the house.

Ok? I've applied many different textures, describe "crows foot"
I guess you start with a layer of joint compound rolled on the wall at a consistency of (pancake batter) and then start stomping with a brush.hope that helps also called panda paw, slap brush and crows footthanks
To start with I've tried the pre aplication and didn't like the results, i.e. drying, but a wide drywall knife works the best for me. So what I've done is: take a bucket of pre-mixed mud (the harder the better, texture scrapes off easily w/ say lightwieght) mix a small amount of water (adjust as needed) and your texture preference. I use washed (play) sand. I use a wallpaperers brush, I think it's called, the wide one, and just get artistic. Rules though ; material that has a long working time, dont make it (too) soupy, something that dries hard and a brush with the right soft/stiff ratio to not become limp or scrape off material. And lastly, have fun!
I had some guys put on a texture similar to the one your are describing (I think).
They used horsehair brushes, like a bench brush, about 16" long. They were pretty old and floppy. Mixed up the mud real wet and patted it on. Took quite a while. They did not put it on with a roller first, although I don't know why you couldn't.
