transition dry to durock above shower

JayP99's picture

How would you handle the seam where durock of shower surround meets drywall above the tilework ?

Where does the tile end? (post #216145, reply #1 of 4)

I assume you are stopping the tile at this juncture. If you intend to finish the edge with surface bullnose, just lap the tile over the seam. Ideally most of the top tile would be on the backer board.

thanks Mike, Tile will stop (post #216145, reply #2 of 4)

thanks Mike,

Tile will stop near it, so I was debating to use durock seam cement or drywall mud/tape at this last seam.

Planning on a redguard or similar sealer too, if it matters.

mesh tape (post #216145, reply #3 of 4)

use mesh tape set in thinset.

We mud the joint then carry (post #216145, reply #4 of 4)

We mud the joint then carry the tile at least one tile past the joint.
