Hi,
I’ve replaced all my windows with Anderson wood windows. I’ve trimmed the interior of the windows with MDF moulding. I’m now at the point where I need to paint the trim and interior of the windows. I’ll be primering and painting the trim with latex primer and semi-gloss with my HVLP sprayer, the walls will be painted with brush and roller in flat latex.
My wife wants me to mask around the casing by about 2″ so that the wall gets some semi-gloss as well. She wants to then sand the semi-gloss up to the edge of the casing and use and edge tool to paint the wall, believing it will provide a cleaner edge.
I want to mask the casing right at the wall, being concerned about flat latex wall paint adhering to the semi-gloss (even though it’s been roughed up with sandpaper).
Anyone have a recommendation or is it a don’t care?
Thanks for help in resolving the domestic dispute.

I agree with Joe about brushing the trim, or at least brushing it out after sraying but I don't see any broblem with overlapping unless one is oil and the other latex
