I’m remodeling a bathroom in Oakland, CA and have encountered T1-11 siding for the first time. The exterior shower wall was damaged by moisture and I have to replace the siding and a window. The siding was installed over 15# felt with z flashing on the horizontal joints.
Can anybody tell me how to properly flash a flanged window here? Also, when I install the siding, I’ll have to piece some small areas in, how should I flash/seal these?
Any insight with this stuff would be appreciated, it’s everywhere around here!

Here is what I was taught to do and still do.
Paper the wall around the window opening with a 6" wide piece of 15# felt, leave the paper at the top of the window opening loose. Start with the bottom piece, hanging out each side 6" then the sides then the top.
Set the window with the top nailing flange slid UNDER the paper above the window, and OVER the paper on the sides and bottom.
Nail or screw the window into place.
Paper the rest of the wall , bringing the new paper over the window nailing flange and 6" strip of felt except at the bottom where the wall felt goes UNDER the 6" strip.
(Today I would add flashing tape all the way around the window, (that product wasn't available when I started doing this work.) (bottom first then sides then top.)
Cut the T-111 as tight to the window opening as possible (1/8") prime at the cuts and front and back . Install header flashing, ("Z" metal)
Install the T-111, caulk the gap around the window with a high quality Paintable caulk.
I use "QUAD" caulk myself but there are other very good brands available.
Last thing is to gently put some pressure on the "Z" strip flashing at the head so it bends down ever so slightly , this prevents water from pooling on it .
