Can someone point be to some sources for wrought iron or hammered steel brackets, bases, accents and such for and internal railing. I have a rustic cabin and when I install the railings I’d like to have rustic hardware a a base to 4X4 corner posts and perhaps some accents for the railings. any help would be appreciated.

Try some of your local steel distributers. Out here in SoCal, there are alot of dealers that carry a line or two. You can also try Julius Blum(Blumm?) and I believe they are located in New York.

Can you list your favorite dealer? Just got a wire feed Lincoln. Does your dealer have "Real Wrought Iron"?
Everyone makes gates and fences out of hollow tubing. Hollow square tubing rust from the inside out within just a few years Where as solid bars last for decades.
Indetel is available at IMS (Industrial Metal Supply) in Irvine, Ca. They carry a few different lines. Didn't realize your so close or I would have given you their name earlier. As JoeH stated, I would agree that the Riverside source is probably cheaper. When buying in small amounts, the stuff really that expensive. -Brian
Local steel supply is the best bet, otherwise you'll be paying UPS on all this stuff. And you can see it before you buy it, it doesn't always look the same in a catalog as it does in the flesh.

Thanks Joe! I'm specifically looking for a rustic look like you'd see in a mountain lodge. Wood will be the primary material for the railing. I'm looking to use the metal brackets and braces to add support and accent to the rails. I was in a resturant recently which used meatl in the same way and it was black (perhaps annodized) and had a hammered look as if forged.
Mikey, that hammered stuff is available in a full line from rod, flats, brackets, you name it. It's called Forged in catalogs & it's black, although also available in a hideous gold sometimes if you want something truly tackey.
If you can find a steel supplier that carries any ornamental iron, they should have a catalog that shows what's available.
The nearest supplier here sells a line from Italy imported through Texas. Company name is Indital 713-694-6065 800-772-4706. I don't know if those are current numbers though. They have a good sized catalog that used to be free that shows what they manufacturer and different uses for the pieces.
Cheapest place locally is Riverside Ornamental Supply in Riverside CA.
The individual pieces are cheap, you might want to buy some miscellaneous bits and try tacking them together in different ways to make what you want.
Good luck, it's fun stuff to work with.

One question related: Can you get decorative pieces that clamp over pickets? I'd like to use some of the 1/2 ones, but I'd rather not cut the top railing off to fit them on!
Thanks
I've never seen anything like that. You could cut them on a band saw, but it would take awhile to do very many.
You're supposed to remember to put them on as you build, not after.
Done it, duh! Cut it back out.

Oh- well, I talked to a family/member customer a while back, had wrought iron railing with standard 1/2 inch pickets with no ornamentation on them, wondered if there was any way to dress them up without taking apart- discussion jogged my memory. Maybe not even iron?
Try http://www.rbwagner.com They have a lot of specialty rail fittings and problem solvers. They bought out J.G. Braun a few years back so they now carry both lines. Julius Blum is a good source as well, they are located in N.J. One more I know of but haven't heard much about lately is Jansen Ornamental Supply. They are located in El Monte, CA. Their phone # is 800-423-4494. Don't know if they have a web site.
Good Luck
