I’m planning on siding the north wall of my house in cedar shingles. Need some advice on appropriate trim where the shingles butt the windows and door: I was thinking of using vinyl or aluminium J-channel but am not sure how the blending of different materials would look, nor sure whether J-channel actually adds anything in terms of weather proofing when used with cedar. Should I just shingle right up to the windows and doors and clear-caulk the joint? Any other options?
