Cold Attic Air from A/C ducts
Cold Attic Air from A/C ducts (post #206810)
jay_gill on Mon, 09/24/2012 - 20:12
I live an Masachusetts and my new to me house is now pouring a cold draft out of the return register from the 2nd floor AC. All the duct work is located in the attic. Is there anything I can do for the winter to stop this, short of a plastic bag taped to the ceiling for the winter? It rather annoying as it is right over our bed and the cold draft is giving me a headache at night.
Thanks.

You can properly seal the ductwork.
Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed. --Herman Melville
Are the attic ducts (post #206810, reply #2 of 2)
Are the attic ducts insulated? If not, even air-sealing will not prevent the effect of cooled air within the ducts from falling into the living space.
