Fireglass in gas insert?
Fireglass in gas insert? (post #207294)
PGproject on Fri, 01/04/2013 - 00:58
A client with a gas fireplace insert (Heat-n-Glo) wants to remove the ceramic 'logs' and have the flames emerge from crushed glass or 'river rocks' for a more contemporary look... a couple of questions...
• can regular crushed and/or tumbled glass be used instead of what's sold specifically for fires ("fireglass", etc.)?
• will removing the 'logs' reduce the heating efficiency... less radiant heat?
Thanks!
