Has anybody used infrared heating panels in residential applications?

I am NOT referring to these little boxes with blowers and airpurifiers.

Heating panels like the ones Redwell is producing. You might want to check redwell.com to see what I mean

Is this for primary heat or supplemental?  Everywhere in the house or certain areas?


We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Nature's inexhaustible sources of energy -- sun, wind and tide. ... On the website redwell.com (they are also represented in the US) they seem to use the heatingpanels as primary source.

I am sure it could be used for aux heating.

If they are efficient enough it could offset the high cost of electricity.

All electric resistance heating is 100% efficient.  The only "efficiency gain" you can hope for is through selective heating -- heating only part of a building/room, or heating occupants with radiant heating without heating the air.

Here in SoCal, I use an electric quartz pair over our outdoor dining area.  It works great, unless the wind is really blowing.  REally extends the outdoor season.

I like the website you linked - some neat ideas.  I really liked the footstool with the radiator at the 1' level.  This would work out nice on our seating area!

BTW, Google Chrome translated the german quite nicely!

I have seen the quartz heaters in small boxes. The reviews on the net were not very encouraging. These companies make outrageous claims, many owners report early failures.

The redwell panels do not have open heating coils with pusher fans, rather -when you look at the fabrication video - their panels are all sealed.

I was wondering how effective they were and what it actually costs to run their system. Of course roomlayout and heatloss is different with each home - just what home owners think in general
