I’ve got a 90+ year old bungalow and we’re redoing the kitchen. Before I patch and skim coat the plaster walls, I’m thinking it would be nice to blow in some insulation into the one exterior wall. The wall is constructed of true 2x4s, plaster and lathe on the inside, 2×6 T&G underlayment and builder’s felt with bevelled clapboard siding on the outside. In other words no moisture barrier to speak of. So my question is, would this be advisable and if so, what kind of insulation should I use? If I blow in insulation, am I creating a moisture/mold problem for this wall? Id there any effective way of insulating from the inside short of tearing out the plaster? Thanks in advance.
