Hello, I am in the process of constructing an office on my friends property. The location is the Willamette Valley (Salem, Oregon). In the design I have it facing the Willamette river, which is going to bring a lot of direct sunlight. She wants as much glazing as possible in that wall, so in that wall, which is 11′ tall x 28′ I have framed-in (2) 5-0′ x 8-0′ & (2) 6-0′ x 8-0′ slider doors. She expressed she wants to do whatever to keep from “cooking” during the winter months and not installing blinds. So….my concern is I’ve spoken to probably too-many “locals” whom have given me completely different opinions of useing a solar-bronze coating. Some say it will provide the maximum protection, while others say it will do absolutly nothing to prevent the heat.
I have gone-ahead and ordered them w/o the coating (just w/ LOW-E)yesterday, and I have 72 hrs. to change my order, so I am asking for any solid, proven information from you experts. Does the solar-bronze do anything at all to reduce the heat?
Thanks, Tony

What brand did you order?
Check the mfgr website, and see what the charts say about heat gain with various coatings and gases.

I ordered Millguard. Thanks for the advice. I will do that.

Do a google on HEAT MIRROR Glass.
I think that it is the name.
Fairly expensive, but supposite to be very good. But I have never looked at the specs.
