Anyone out there have any experience with System 2000 oil fired system? I did a search and there were some old responses-all favorable I would save-just interested in any current comments.
I replaced my 25 year old system with a System 2000 last December. It's extremely quiet. I haven't checked how much my oil consumption has gone down yet. But, my neighbor had the same unit installed about 5 years ago and said that what he saved in oil was paying for the new furnace. He also said that he got a call from his oil supplier who asked him if had turned off his furnace due to the drop in oil consumption. My HVAC guy just had one installed in his house and until installing my neighbor's he wasn't even a supplier. The installers are supposed to be factory trained. My neighbor's was the first one that my HVAC guy did and had to call in a trained installer to trouble shoot. My unit was done by my HVAC's employee who was trained on the job by the factory trained person.
Jim'm thx for the comments-looks like all in all your experience is positive. One of my kids is looking at replacing a 24 year old Burnham/Becket unit. their biggest complaint is not enough hot water with current unit.
We had the 40 gallon indirect hot water installed with the System 2000. We haven't tried multiple showers at the same time or running a clothes washer or dish washer while taking a shower so can't comment on hot water recovery/supply time. I tend to take long showers and have never run out of hot water while doing so. The system we replaced was a tankless hot water system that provided instantaneous hot water. The hot water from the System 2000 takes almost a minute to reach full temperature. I checked with my neighbor and his does the same. I checked with HVAC and they said a pump could be installed to get it hot faster if this becomes an issue. I talked to the folks at Energy Kinetics and found them to be very helpful. I called them to register my System and to ask a few questions about directions in the owner's manual. Maybe you could ask them about the hot water.
