My father-in-law bought a shed kit about 10-15 years ago and put up the shed himself. I’m wondering if there are any companies that do this anymore. I think this was through Grossman’s Lumber which was a lumber company years ago in the New England area. If I could buy the lumber it may make fiscal sense to put it up myself. Any help?

think if you look around you can find plans or kits for sheds.

Lowe's sells the Handy Home Products brand line of shed kits. I put one up in September.
If I had to do it over again I would have just used their instructions and bought the lumber myself. Basically, the building was desined as a 10x10 and for a 14x10 they just include the stuff for a 4 foot "extension". The way they have to package these kits there can't be any pieces longer than 10 feet so the top plates along the long wall are not continuous, but I think there are 2 top plates and the joints are staggered. Just wish I had thought about using their plans and buying the lumber myself sooner.

Here are a couple of my favorite sites I used to design my own. Someone once told me "If you ain't stealing, you ain't trying". That should apply only to ideas and designs BTW..
