Hello
I was wondering if anyone has much experience installing Forbo’s Marmoleum? Last year I got a good deal on a couple 1/2 boxes which was just enough to do my bathroom. Came out pretty good considering I’m not a floor guy. I now would like to get a little more elaborate.
About 6 years ago when I was a carpenter I remember seeing a stunning installation on a job(borders, inlays, multiple colors etc.etc.). If i remember right he was laying it over a high quality ply. maybe marine ply?
If anyone has any tips or suggestions as to making a rock solid and artful installation I would be most grateful.
Brian
Now where in the heck did I leave my hammer?

I considered it for a job I was specing a year and a half ago. I visited with the sales and installation people i use and they told me that the installer needs to be top flight because it is less forgiving of errors - also that it will stain so you have to be careful about what you put on it. They had a couple tales where a damp bucket had been left placed on it for a few hours and left a permanent rust ring and another where a tool had left a shadow stain behind. They also said that things like blueberry can stain it.
they love it but cautioned that owners should be aware of it's failings. It is not plastic vinyl but more of a natural open breathing membrane.

Nice job I like the bold colors. Is that a sheet product or did you inlay the blue around the squares, or vise versa? Sandblasted toughened glass? very cool.

its red tiles with 3/4" blue piping.
the piping comes on a roll so you have to cut it to fit.
they do have various colours that come on a roll.
marmoleum do have a design CD that they give out which you can use to change colours and designs.
as for the glass it looks nice. it was a real PIA to get it in. not much space likewide with the mirror only 1/8" all around(i'll post a pic if i can find one)
found a pic of the mirror
Bet that was fun to hang.

i think there was a little cursing involved!
