I’m planning a remodel project and need to remove my blown cellulose attic insulation. So far I’ve come up with using a small plastic shovel and bagging it, or using a wood shop vacuum system set on a section of scaffold and modifying the lower bag so Its longer and has a quick opening bottom to allow me to dump it into bags(2 person job). Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions that may make this painstaking job easier? Thanks in advance for any help, Rob.

Forget the shop vac, it doesn't work. We do one of two things. We either open a few holes in the ceiling and push the insulation through the holes onto the floor below where we can comfortably shovel it up, or we hire a duct cleaning guy with his vac truck to suck the stuff either into his truck or into a dumpster we provide. The vac could suck your pants off. If you don't like the first idea because you have finished carpet you need to save on the floor below, either remove it and have it reinstalled or protect it with the adhesive backed plastic designed for this. In the long run, it's usually best to remove and reinstall the carpet.
