How do you figure pricing for all the cabinetry in a job, countertops not included? The kitchen, bathrooms, home office, entertainment center, etc., etc. If it is a custom home, and you are letting your customer go to your recommended suppliers, how have you figured the allowance?

Around here, cabinets run from $75 a foot to $150 or more. There are so many options it's hard to pin it down any closer than that.
Cooperation can only be reached if we work together.
We just tried, for the first time, going the KD route. Bought the boxes, drawer boxes, shelves, and hardware from CabParts, and the doors and drawer fronts, all prefinished, from Keystone. Cost of materials for 4 vanities and a laundry center was $2645, delivered. Total footage (base) was 28, wall at 5. Add 'em up, and I get about $80 per foot. Two of us spent a day assembling and installing. I think I will use a factor of about $110 per foot (countertops not included) for roughing out a ballpark cost for the spec house I am planning.
people usually tell me they can buy a car for what they spend on cabinets.
on a remodle, put in a place holder for mid price, if they want higher or lower the final will reflect. adv. cab order here seems to be about 15000.
If it's a custom home i would have let my cabinet supplier look at the plans and given me a close estimate based on plan layout. If you don't have a layout prior experience is the only thing you can go with. For custom cabinets in CT you could be looking at $800.00 per foot. I hate allowances. If you give what it should be you are usually pricing yourself out of the job. If you go conservative the buyer gets ticked off because you didn't allow enough. The best way to deal with allowances is to educate your customer and ask them to tell you how much to allow.
