Can I use a treated 4×4 as a beam on a porch (light roofing) spanning 17 feet total, with 3 4×6 posts underneath? The spans will be 8.5 feet between each post. Is the span acceptable?

No, a 4" X 4" will sag. Use at least a 4" X 6," not much more money.
Note that a 4x4 is essentially no stronger than two 2x4s side-by-side.
