Discovered a pretty significant drip last night coming from the ceiling of my first floor bedroom. Had a plumber out this morning, despite removing a good section of drywall, he couldn’t find the leak.
The only pipe in the immediate vicinity is a PVC vent stack, that makes a 90 deg turn from vertical to horizontal. We haven’t had any rain in the last few days, so I’m pretty sure I don’t have a roof issue.
House is about 20yrs old in Charlotte, NC
Any ideas?

Has it been hot and humid of late? Condensation perhaps?
And how far is this from the nearest bathroom on the second floor?

you might have seen a direction that the water took to get there if he hadn't bashed the shit out of the ceiling.
are those joist hangers that appear dark at the beam?
Place a level near that area and follow the uphill trail.
do you have an ac unit in an attic? A clogged condensate line can be a source of odd water.
Get an inspection camera. Harbor Freight sells them for not a lot of $. With it you can look around in the joist bays above the ceiling.
