I am planning to finish the lower level of a fairly new house. Since I only have a shower in the Master Bath, I thought it would make sense to put a bathtub in the only other full bath. However, the exsiting conditions seem to be limiting my options.
The studded walls of the end of the bath (the alcove) are 60″ apart with the drain into the slab is in the center. The drain is also 18″ from the end wall. One wall has the vent embedded it it and the other has a mini-split (with a gravity drain) mount on it. So the walls are pretty much unmovable.
Does anyopne have any ideas for a bathtub to fit this spot. Something besides a walk-in…
Thanks,
Richard

I'm having Trouble locating your drain,
centered in the long run but you mention 18" from the end wall?
is the slab pored around the drain or did they leave you a boxed out area?
cutting the floor up to enable your options?
Center Drain Alcove Bathtub
Thanks for your comment!
The drain is 30" and 18* from the studs.
The slab is poured around the drain and has radiant floor heating so I don't think there is much room for cutting. Which raises the question about the overflow...

sounds like you might start thinking of a way to add a platform to accomodate your drain and overflow for a conventional tub.
There are center drain tubs available. I don't now if any match your 18" drain offset from the wall.
You could do a Roman tiled tub

standard tub would be fine, just a little cut in the slab to arm over and catch your tub drain. sounds like it will be less than 30'' of cutting and patching.
Center Drain Tub
Thanks for the reply.
However, as I mentioned, there is pex inbedded in the concrete for the radiant floor heat. So, cutting the slab is not an option...
Either find a center-drain tub, put the tub on a platform, or craft your own from tile.

use a small hammer drill with a small paddel and chip out enough concrete to see your pex. you should only have 2-3 bends in the path. An hour or two of your day if a center drain isnt an option.
Maybe your unlucky and your installers got a little lazy in the basement and didnt go all the way to the exterior walls and you dont have any pex. still think chipping/cutting out the slab for a proper drain in the floor should be your first choice.
