I have an old Craftsman 6″ joiner planer that I’m trying to use to plane 5/4 garapa decking to different thickness to use as spacers for a facia mounted railing system. Its very slow going because the blades are dull and the garapa is a hardwood.
I’ve tried to get the knives out sot that I can resharpen or replace them, but the whole setup is pretty rusty. Of course, Sears doesn’t sell any parts other than the actual blades.
Any suggestions short of buying a thickness planer would be appreciated.

Any suggestions?
Yeah, watch your fingers!! My dad lost a fingertip on one of those (though it was probably closer to 8" in width).
Watch your fingers
Thanks, but that goes without saying for any tool, especially power tools!
soak everything with penetrating oil and see if that lets you remove the knives. Also, there is a way to hone the knives in place using a stone. You can search the internet for the procedure.
