Can be drilled if you don't have a punch.
Clamp a chunk of 2x on each side and drill through
with a good sharp drill. Make sure the whole thing
is firmly clamped so you can use both hands on the
drill. It will catch the drill as it breaks
through. It you're not expecting it, it can tear
your arm off. Stainless sheet is not easy to drill.
A punch is much better. Around $30, I think.
If you're doing a lot of them, get a punch with
a ball bearing screw. Much easier to turn. Most
electrical supply places sell them.
I too, was faced with this task to add a spray to a wash sink. I used a Lenox bi-metal hole saw to cut a perfect 1-1/4" hole with a handheld drill. Just take it easy and don't apply too much pressure. Saved me a trip to my electrical supplier and $30-40.
I forgot about hole saws. Much better idea.
I'd still be sure to clamp some scrap to the back.
