Cutting melamine

richardi's picture

I have cut/notch the baseboard profile out of the bottom of v4 ertical closet panels. I'm thinking of applying blue painter's tape and using a multi-purpose tool to do the cuts.

Suggestions?

Regards,

Richard

a straight cutting bit in a router with an easing to clear the baseboard.  Cut the closet panel with no consideration for the profile of the baseboard.  It will be neat and probably burried from view by the contents.

Cutting Melamine - Update (post #216147, reply #2 of 2)

I'm applyied blue painter's tape, marked the baseboard profile and used my multi-purpose tool to make the 4 cuts successfully. Very little chipping, which will buried in the bottom rear of the unit. The cuts got cleaner as learned to guide the tool along the cut line line rather than plunging down the line.
