It's ugly, dirty, unstable, (post #206941, reply #1 of 12)
It's ugly, dirty, unstable, uncomfortable, and usually takes up more than it's fair share of floor space. What's not to like?

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell rattan furniture has to do with fine homebuilding.
Now, if there was a discussion about using rattan as a building material, I could understand the possibility of this being a legit thread.

I don't agree. Rattan (post #206941, reply #2 of 12)
I don't agree. Rattan furniture looks stunning, it is made from wicker or rattan fiber. It is similar to bamboo but is not hollow from the middle. It lasts longer and is especially good in those homes where furniture is prone to rough use.
You know what I like to do (post #206941, reply #5 of 12)
You know what I like to do with Rattan Furniture? Gather them from all my neighbors late at night, then take them out on the roads until i find some fresh roadkill. I then pose the Rattan Funiture right on top of it, as if it killed the animal. I'll send them the picture after a couple days. After they get it they should notice the bloody fur under a leg or on the table edge.
If they don't immediatly throw it away, I'll sneak into their house and murder their pets - again framing the rattan funiture as the culprit, but I leave them on the bloody carcas this time.
Hey, they were warned!

I strongly disagree with all (post #206941, reply #6 of 12)
I strongly disagree with all your comments because if that had been the case and if everyone would have hated rattan then how come so much of rattan furniture is sold each day even though so many new types and forms of furniture coming up each day. Your comment cannot be judged as a majority's opinion.
Around here rattan furniture (post #206941, reply #7 of 12)
Around here rattan furniture is considered very cheap and tacky. No one of refined taste or a good quality home would consider rattan furnirure. Maybe in the maid's quarters but not where your friends could see it.

No, not the Maid's quarters, (post #206941, reply #8 of 12)
No, not the Maid's quarters, that's way to demeaning to her.
Instead, I think all rattan funiture should be shipped to China, and installed on the back walls at Foxconn. That way those poor assembly engineers know what real ugly is, compared to the pretty phones they are putting together.
Plus, it would make them work harder as they would fear the company would make the poor performing workers take rattan funiture home as punishment for poor productivity.

legal concerns (post #206941, reply #10 of 12)
In many southern states it is legal to love your rattan but it is strictly prohibited to consumate that love.
Hence the subdued popularity...

Yeah, you can get away with that in California. But in Texas they'll put you away for life for having s*x with rattan furniture.
