oldhouseguy on Thu, 09/22/2011 - 19:11
I am considering various options for widows both replacement and new for upgrade as well as an addition to a 140 year old home. One of the manufacturers I have been considering is :
Malta Windows and Doors
244 THirteenth Street
369 Malta Ohio 43758
Does anyone have experience with this company or the product. I was lead to consider them by a friend who has ben in the window supply business for 30 years. Any thoughts comments or experience would be appreciated thanks.

Hello I am the new (post #205049, reply #1 of 15)
Hello
I am the new Commercial Sales Manager for Malta Windows and Doors based in Carlisle PA. Our company, Light Styles Ltd has partnered with Malta last fall to help grow sales and distribution of this manufacturer.
LightStyles was the Mid-atlantic Distributor for Marvin Windows and Doors for 16 years, so we have extensive exprience in the industry. If you compare the product, you will find that it has superior qualites, fit-finish and engineering. While the name Malta has been associated with windows for 120 years, todays product is completely new, in order to meet todays stringent standards.
I hope you take time to investigate the product more.
Contact me if you would like further information.
Sincerely
Marc Held CSI,CDT

Malta Doors and Windows (post #205049, reply #2 of 15)
Hello Marc,
I have the original Malta windows in my home that was built in 1988. If I needed sash or jamb parts would the 'new' Malta be able to help?
Thank You
Jim (post #205049, reply #3 of 15)
I have hopes that he does come back so we know the above wasn't just a cheap advertisement for a potentially service poor distributor.

Malta Doors and Windows (post #205049, reply #4 of 15)
I had contacted Malta a while back after they had gone back into business. The folks that re-started the company I believe were former employees. They told me that their window designs had changed and the only way I could get parts were if they were laying around the warehouse. I'm interested to see what will happen this time around. Around here the salesman say 'yes' to anything you want....whether you actually get it is another matter.
Doesn't somebody's signoff say 'tell them can do anything and then go and figure out how to do it' ?
that boy...... (post #205049, reply #5 of 15)
seems to be a sales rep for a company in Pa. that happens to sell their windows, don't know if he's gonna be much help.
I hate the run around-salespeople that are with a company for a long time-they I might believe. But the new guys just fresh from a BA in business.................shoot-they'll hop companies like a jack rabbit.
Customer had a rep from Pella-out of Detroit- that said for him to provide anchoring straps would be 4.75 each and we needed maybe 40. This was to take the place of the flangeless (customer called me after ordering) windows that totaled over 10,000.00.
I heard the conversation and could only reply "tell him to go [JOBSITE WORD] himself".
Put Kay on the phone (she's been with the company for a long time-in house sales)..........................
All she could say was "he's new".
I couldn't hold back. I got on the phone with the "new" guy and we had a talk. Well, I had a talk-he had to listen. What did they teach you in school? Charge someone 150.00 for something that you should have known was needed in lieu of fins after they ran over 10 grand through you?
How bout we take that and digest what it could mean. He's a homowner, this might be the last you 'll see of him. I'm a dumb remodeler, and with your attitude this might be the last you'll hear from me. My customers are important, the most important part of my life (after the usual real close people you know) and when you treat them like crap, well son-you're getting some of that on me too.
Jeezus, what got in to me-I'm normally not this way..................

Tellin' it like it is (post #205049, reply #6 of 15)
You're just telling it like it is.
What you told him was probably better than anything that he learned in school. It's a lesson that he won't forget and will serve him well when the situation comes up again. Life experience is a great teacher....hope you aren't planning on retiring anytime soon.

62? Nope you've got a long way to go....plenty of gas in the tank. In your line of work age and experience are an asset which will get more valuable as time goes on.

You two goofballs. (post #205049, reply #10 of 15)
The work might appear easier, but believe me-even learning to work smart doesn't make it easier. Working by myself has it's benefits and as I age, has it's drawbacks. I know how to do it, question is-can I do it.
And as far as off work-I can honestly say for some reason, I perk right up.

You should have a checked box in your profile that has this site send you an email if there's action in this thread. (that of course assumes that function is working)
By providing answers here to a question, you enable others to see it right here on the board.
It also gives information on how problems with the windows might be solved-surely a good marketing tool in action.
