standing seam roofers just finished what i think is the best looking roof i have seen yet,
but in the covered porch/entry area the 3″ screws came through 1/4″+- on the finished vgf ceiling.
also on some spots on overhangs.
my question is how the hell do you fix this?
bung cutter around tip then how do you cut a very thick ss screw in a small hole?
help!!!

Another job for the Dremel.
Put a carbide cutting disk in a Dremel and it will eat thru the screws very quickly.
But, unless the screws are stainless steel, the exposed bottom of the screw will rust unless it is sealed.
IMHO, I would let the contractor fix it correctly, with shorter screws.
Good luck.
Oh man.
Sure glad that wasn't me. That time.
How many square feet of ceiling are we talking?
How noticable are the screws through the overhangs?
Ouch
Sounds to me like there's an expensive ceiling fix in the works no matter what. One option might be to leave the screws alone and install a second ceiling.
damn
An ALMOST perfect roofing job.
Call 'em back. Shorter screws and fix the holes.
all good ideas,
might try to band aid this as best as i can,
maybe cut flush with dremel like someone said and then paint the end of the stainless screw
with a matching nail polish?
overhangs are soild stain so i can do the same and touch those up with primer and stain.
so frustraiting to pay so much for a roof and have this kind of thing happen.
there is no excuse but might have had somthing to do with neer 0 degree weather,
oh well the roof itself is very very nice and should last as long as im around
Unfortunately, if that ceiling paneling is also the roof sheathing, the contractor can argue that installation guidelines call for fasteners to penetrate by x amount.
