Regarding the flooring, Bruce hardwood flooring is probably the big gun here in my neck of the woods. As far as grade goes. the best product results in the best job. I recomend using the flooring with the “micro bevel” if you`ve decided on prefinished. I`ve heard several complaints refering to dust and dirt getting trapped in the grooves with the larger bevels.
As far as the tools go, except for the possibilty of the jigsaw none of the tools you mentioned truly suit the project. If you plan on renting the flooring nailers a decent chopsaw would serve you better. However if you`re just attempting to get some new toys with your wifes blessing, the cordless package can come in handy with other projects in the future.

I have to agree with J.D.... The tool choice doesn't seem to fit the job. If your wife lets you buy a chopsaw, it will definately be the tool you need for this job... or else rent one. Anything else... it would be like cutting your lawn with a weed-wacker. The tool might do the job, but not quickly or well.
Prefinished flooring... Bruce and Husky seem to make pretty nice products. If you do a search here on the site, you'll probably find further commentary and advice about what to use/avoid.
Thanks for the information. I do have a chop saw so the tool is something that I'd want more than I'd need. Birthday coming up and it's ll I'd want...within reason.
