Fluorescent light flashing.

Jigs-n-fixtures's picture

I'm traveling and staying in a motel room.

There is a chain hung light fixture that is controlled by a wall switch.  It has a compact fluorescent light installed.

When it is switched off it flashes every few seconds.

Any ideas on what is happening?

It is common for motels............ (post #207262, reply #1 of 2)

to have lights that flash and flicker.

If the sign out by the road says BATES MOTEL........

I'd get in my car and drive.

Either something is miswired (post #207262, reply #2 of 2)

Either something is miswired or the switch is a wireless one and the wireless receiver is malfunctioning (probably because it wasn't designed for CFLs).
