check your Freud 12″ blades (diablo),80 tooth for fine cuts..they measure 11 3/4 ” …they will not complete the chop cut on a Bosch 12″ axial saw..the Bosch,Dewalt blades work fine, but the freud WILL NOT CUT COMPLETELY THRU YOUR WORK !!Bosch saws they require a full 12″….and they are corrrect..you shouldn’t need to fir out the fence to complete the cut..cutting face frames you want, need to finish the cut without screwing around with an incorrect size blade..Freud says just bring it back for a refund..all their blades are this size i.e. 11 3/4 ” = 12″..really !! the blade was a xmas present from the kids in Seattle.from home depot…I’M in rural oregon 3hrs.,ONE WAY from any oregon home depot..just saying..

I've seen many things worth griping about when it comes to tool manufactuers. This isn't one of them.
Actually, it will cut through you work if you know how to use your saw. But more to the point: I've been practicing carpentry for over 35 years and have yet to see the need for a 12" mitre saw in the first place. Even Festool saw fit to keep things within the 10" dia. genre. Bottom line is the weight, wear and tear, and run-out of 12" saws just aren't worth "srewing around with" (IMO). Don't just ditch the blade, ditch the saw.
BTW, why don't you just ask Freud for a RA and ship it back via your local post office? Or is that 3 hrs away as well?
he got a ;rite to [CUTE
he got a ;rite to bitch, thet freud balde likely costed mor'n m;y truck !
btw, got a 14" makeeta miter saw, it work good even with harbor freight blade. Works great even as a framing saw.
11 3/4'" freud blade
I did ask freud about a RA and they simply blew off the request..I wasn't about to spend $14 bucks to get the same 11 3/4" blade back..and as for the 3 hrs...as I said..3 hrs. EACH WAY..YOU CAN DO THE MATH...
I've not been Practicing carpentry for 35 yrs...I actually know how to do it..but I am limited to finish work as that is what I am asked to ...and to cut some crown,a 10" blade simply isn't going to "cut it " you might say..not long enough for my way with crown..you see I chop crown much as you do base..bottom of crown against fence, held securely (no jig); chop.done.next..a 10"blade wouldn't do for some crown..
t he saw is not the problem..dewalt and bosch blades ARE 12" GO FIGURE..they both work well..
you can have some run-out with any slider, but when I need it as good as it needs to be,I use my table saw..
the festool people make great tools..I've a few of them..in my cabinet shop I use their track system for sheet goods..all my 3/4 material I cut with it ..very "right-on"... at 71 it makes handling sheet goods almost easy
the saw is at a dedicated station in my shop now so weight is no issue..

If you actually knew what you were doing, then you wouldn't be cutting crown this way; you'd be cutting it on the flat. Say, If you ever need a free lesson, then feel free to send me a PM for an appointment and I will show you how. It just might help bring you out of the dark ages.
dn
Remind me again why you find it necessary to insult damn near everyone on this board.
Who else to reply to with our own snarky comments?
Mike will maybe see this thread and have some fun, eh?
Still lovin' mah 14" Makita - and I got it at a garage sale of $15 ! WITH a full 14" Makita blade.
DN probably say I paind $15 too much 'cause 14" is useless? It cuts crown flat, backwards, upsides down, whatever so blade enters the finish side.. It is bolted down to a bench.
stupidnuts this isnt the dumbest things your posted...
but its pretty close.

For a stupidnut that loves to throw the "relative" word around this is as relative as anything has ever been.
By the way, injecting an "(IMO)" isnt a license to be an a SS wipe...unless thats all you know to be and your being yourself.
We get it, you think your chit doesnt smell, your in your 40's and have been a carpenter for 65 yrs, your an architect but got bored with it so decided to start a solo man remodeling company, the only person who know anything about anything and everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting to see how you change the world with your greatness.
Either ge tover yourself and act like a normal person, or crawl back in hole your been in the last few wks.
OOPs sorry for saying Mike, I really did mean to say Mark <G>
Had just been thinking of next door neighbor Mike who still has not brought back the wheelbarrow he borrowed in August !
well mines a little beat up but it wheels and it barrels...your more than welcome to it.
Well, obviously you need to get a Professional Engineer to spec the size of blade to use.
All Hail the Internet!
I know your area well. I also know UPS goes there. Forget the 3-hour drive .... a good blade is but a mouse-click away!
I does sound like you need a better / different saw. You're pushing the one you have to the limit.
Otherwise ... a PRESENT? Raelly? You have no other blade available? OK, so Freud doesn't fill your heart with joy .... but it was a gift!
Where's the gratitude?
I mean ... your kids give you a present - and you rant about how imperfect it is?
Gee, I bet they feel the warm glow of . satisfaction, knowing they made you happy.
No surprise, though ... look at the anger in the 'welfare class.' I guess you can't really appreciate something unless you earn it.
