I have recently started my first big project. I usually build furniture and other home improvement projects, but I have started on a garage apartment that I will use for my woodshop and a studio bedroom upstairs. My problem is that i have the four exterior walls up and found that the North wall is 1/4″ shorter that the South wall. These walls will carry the rafters for the gable roof. Is this something that i should be concerned about? I can shim under the top plate with 1/4″ plywood but that would affect the East and West walls. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Randy

+ - 1/4" tolerance is fine for framing work.
It may even settle out better once you load those walls.

Thanks for your input. Since the wall that is 1/4" short will carry half of the floor joists for the second floor and cross an LVL will this cause a noticeable dip or uneven floor? Sorry for all the questions. This is my first attempt at framing. Thanks, Randy
I doubt you'll notice 1/4" in 12'Excellence is its own reward!
