Back in the “old” board, someone posted a link to a company who manufactures custom one-piece shower pans that could be used with glass block.
the old posting board is long gone, I saved the url to my favorites but the missus bought a new computer and most of our favorites didn’t make the switch. Now I’m working on doing a glass block shower and really really would like to find that site. Do any of you remember what I’m talking about? It was in a thread about 6 or 7 months ago from a person who was having trouble finding a cultured marble fabricator in their area. (I’m having trouble with that as well, evidently nobody in Iowa does that sort of thing.)
Thanks folks!

I would check in plumbing stores for a "Shower Receptor". These are one piece units, that slip into a flat subfloor and the connection with the drain is made: (1) Either very carefully with pipe dope from above; or (2) From underneath (in the ceiling) with a no-hub connector. They do not accept tile, and are a one piece unit, like a pre-fab floor and membrane combo. They come in a variety of sizes. I think Bonsal is one company that makes them.
Hope this helps.

I wish to hell I had done this instead of getting a stinkin' Jacuzzi unit.
I just installed a Pittsburgh in a house for a customer. It is a sharp unit and the base makes it really easy. We installed the walk-in unit. The downside of this unit is that it is small. The footprint is large but by the time the walls and everything are built, you're left with an approximately 36" X 36" shower area down from an approximately 48" X 72" base.
Good luck,
John
