Looking to connect with general contrator local to Fayetteville, NY. I’m hoping the Fine Homebuilding network can help.
Friend in NY lost her husband (and father of 4) and needs help with her house. I’m a contractor in Boston and have provided some counsel by phone. She really needs someone in person at this point. — Old house, drafty, needs to be maintained but she knows nothing about houses. E.g., Seems someone stuck her with some replacement windows; looks like a real clown job.
Need someone to be my eyes, come up with a prioritized list of repairs, and do / coordinate the work. I would be involved initially to talk about the list and then hand off the connection once friend is comfortable.
Any help or pointing me in the right direction would be most appreciated.

Under the circumstances you might want to contact the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity (if there is one) and see if they would at least provide some sort of evaluation.
not really the situation..
Thanks for the comment. It appears I may have confused the issue.
HfH works with people of limited income and builds them affordable housing. This individual has a house and income. She needs help in the maintenance of her house. Charity isn't part of the equation.
Two options:
1. contact NARI (http://www.nari.org/)
2. contact the Chamber of Commerce for Fayetteville, N.Y. and ask which lumberyard most professional builders purchase from. Then contact the owner or manager of that yard and ask for three good remodeling references.
Personally I would try #2 first.
