Just to preface, I’m a cynic by nature.
Yesterday, I had a salesman over to talk siding on the house. He said he had to put his stuff back in the car and wanted my wife and I to “chat” while he was outside to see if we could make a decision. I would never buy anyting in that manor, but I played along. Of course we started talking about the price after the door closed.
I looked down and his iPhone was on the table. The first thing that popped into my head was that he was using the voice recorder to tape the conversation.
Am I crazy to think this way or is it possible?

LOL, anything is possible ;-)
We'll see
I should see how much he comes back with. The first words out of my mouth were that he was about two grand higher and I didn't really say much after that about the project. It would be amazing if he came in $2,000 lower.
I did say "that phone better not be on" loud enough to be recorded if it was on.
He was a salesman, not the owner, not a contractor. If you saw and heard him, it wouldn't surprise you if he did it.
He could have been - I've used a recorder in similar situations but have been completely up frontb about using it instead of taking notes while we talked.
I rarely do it anymore, because someone always coughs at a crucial point in the recording, though {G}
Definitely could have been doing that. While I'm not sure you can have an iPhone app recording while the main menu is displayed, it would be a relatively simple matter to create an app that displays a dummy main menu while it records.
And it would be easier with some of the other "smart" phones -- are you sure it was an iPhone, or could it have been a different brand?
Not sure if it was an iPhone, could have been something else.
The screen was black, I did pick it up and shake it and then tried to touch the screen. Nothing changed, like it was locked.
He was previously using the touch screen as his calculator.
You should have had your wife say something about him being really atrractive and trying to get a big discount along with a good time. If he comes back flirting with her, you'd would have had your answer.
In retrospect, I'm peeved.
I blew it when I commented that I thought the phone was on. I'm not good at quick thinking like that. I would love the moment back.
